 About

'The Real Picture' is a unique series of photography exhibitions that brings to the forefront everyday real issues surrounding ordinary people, providing a forum to engage and discuss themes and circumstances that are rarely given their deserved platform. The themes in Series #1 focus on dementia social care and the journey of loss; issues that are close to the hearts of the exhibiting photographer and issues that affect our society in more ways than one. The exhibitions are supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. Mum, Dementia & I is also funded by The Elephant Trust.

All exhibitions and events are free, however we invite donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Society, Registered Charity No. 296645. This charity was chosen because the subject of dementia is key to both exhibitions, and the great work that the charity does needs much more funds. According to the charity: "1 in 14 people over 65 are living with dementia at any one time", many of them and their families without adequate help and support. Moreover, much more needs to be done to prevent the disease and find a cure. This is why 'The Real Picture' Photography Exhibition Series is supporting this charity.
